The History of Almaty College of Construction and Management
Almaty College of Construction and Management is the oldest educational institution in Kazakhstan, which was opened in 1930. At the beginning, it opened as the Almaty Municipal Construction College, and in 1993 it was transformed into the Almaty College of Construction and Management. Almaty College of Construction and Management was headed by experienced organizers of the education system for several years and made a worthy contribution to improving the quality of education and training young professionals.
In 2010 was solemnly celebrated the 80th anniversary, and in honor of this anniversary, an alley of college graduates was laid a golden book of honorary graduates of the college. Currently, it is the leader among technical and vocational educational institutions of the Republic. This educational institution has been the center of the Republican Educational and Methodological Association for construction specialties for more than 20 years. Thanks to the creative titanic work of the teaching staff, the State Standards for the Education of a new generation in seven specialties have been developed. Over the past two years, the following leading teachers, on the instructions of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, have written and published textbooks and educational literature:

Electronic textbooks are created for all academic disciplines. In accordance with the strategic plan of the college, by 2016 the modernization of laboratories, practical training bases, 100% coverage of teachers with internships at enterprises will be completed, 80% of teachers will have the highest and first category, which will ensure the transition of the college to work in an innovative mode. AKSIM is a leader in the introduction of credit technology of education, in the development of international relations with educational institutions of foreign countries among Colleges. In the 2009-2010 academic year, the college completely switched to credit technology in 7 specialties. Among the three educational institutions in the Republic is an experimental platform for the introduction of credit technology of education. Repeatedly on the basis of this educational institution, scientific-practical and scientific-theoretical conferences, seminars, a fair of pedagogical ideas for the exchange of experience between teachers of the city and the Republic have been and are being held. The experience of this educational institution is also known in foreign countries with which it maintains partnerships. The geography of international relations is very wide: Turkey, Russia, South Korea, Austria, UK. Currently, AKSIM is defined by the order of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan as a regional center for advanced training of teachers of technical and vocational education. Since 2007, joint work has been carried out to further improve the quality of training specialists on a partnership basis with Wakefield College in the UK. For the first time, on the basis of a bilateral agreement, an international student design studio (Kazakhstan-British Colleges) was created, whose members are students from both countries. The annual exchange of students and teachers of the two Colleges contributed to the development unified qualification requirements of the standard of building education. Members of the student design bureau “KBK” began to develop joint design work on the new campus of Wakefield College with a total cost of about 50 million pounds. This pilot project is designed for a period of 3 years. A memorandum was signed with Cambridge and Deadley Colleges of Great Britain on the collaborative exchange of students, work experience, etc. For the first time in the history of the college, students defended their theses in English and received an invitation to study free of charge at Wakefield College in the UK
In the 2013-2014 academic year, two colleges “Almaty College of Architecture and Construction” and “Almaty College of Construction and Management” merged. Cooperation with the Caspian Public University (CPU) has been strengthened. Our graduates successfully enter the 3rd year of KOU in their related specialty and acquire a bachelor’s degree. In December 2014, “Almaty College of Architecture and Construction” successfully passed the state certification and extended the license for educational activities.
